I took a break from my normal routine and headed to Toronto for the "Winterlicious" event. From Jan. 26 - Feb. 8 Toronto's top 100 restaurants feature set meals for lunch and dinner at affordable rates. Since I'm back in Canada I wanted to take part, so I had a lovely meal at Biff's.
I had a mushroom tartlett as a starter, followed by a chicken and artichoke crepe and to finish the meal off I had a dark chocolate cake with peppermint tea.
On cold winter days it's nice to sit by a hot roaring fire and sip on some tea. Looking into the red burning amber puts me in a tranquil state. Even though I'm not a fan of the extreme cold weather, I'm happy to report that I never freeze when I'm inside my home, or my friend's places.
I found a new wine I like this weekend. Cherry Pinot Noir, very delicious. Perhaps I will have some of that on my birthday tee hee. Or shall I just stick to champagne. What do you think?
I never expected to watch an interview about the Mafia on a Sunday morning, but CBC Sunday report does have some interesting things to report on from time to time. A former Mafia boss from the New York area was interviewed and he stated that Montreal, Quebec is currently the Mafia Capital. Organized crime right here in Canada? Yes indeed, but that doesn't surprise me. Why? Canada's police force isn't taking enough action to stop mafia business, and many police officers are corrupt themselves. Is Canada still a safe country to live in? I think so, but the media always has a way of scaring people.
I am embarking on a test tomorrow... will I find happy people in Toronto? Yes, I'm going back to the city. I know I was going to leave the country, but some job prospects have come up, so I will let fate handle my future.
I'm not nervous, rather excited. I think the run did me well today, even though it was a chilly -10 C. It also helped that I had an old friend with me, who pushed me to keep going. Yup winter has arrived, but I will not let the weather stop me from achieving my goals. I will survive... I will compete in races, get a super duper job, and be HAPPY.
I'm back from my holiday in Clearwater, FL and I must say I had loads of fun. The weather was great, with the exception of one rainy day, I was able to relax, and train for my upcoming 10 km race. I haven't registered for it yet, but it will be held around my bday.. so I still have loads of time to get my speed up. Apart from that I have come to realize one thing... I am not content being in Canada now. Why you ask? I go to Toronto, a city which is supposed to welcome tourists, and you are greeted by frowning people everywhere. No one is happy. High paying executives, or people working in the GAP, no one smiles. What's wrong with you people? Don't you take pride in your work... aren't you satisfied? I guess not. It makes me mad because here I am looking to get back into the work force, and there are people who don't even do their job with joy or pride. For example the flight attendants on U.S. Airways. These people hardly smiled, they couldn't even find a blanket for me, said that it was "too difficult," and to top it off they served my tea in a dirty cup. Should I put up with this crap? Nope I choose not to! I've decided to look for jobs in Europe and elsewhere.
And I have one question where is West Roxbury, Massachusetts?
Clearwater Florida is great. I flew here yesterday and I am so happy I decided to finally go on a vacation. I have a room overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. This morning I saw dolphins swimming from the balcony and I went for a lovely swim. My friend took me to a local mall and I took advantage of some good deals. I bought myself some new running shoes so tomorrow I will be running along the water. he weather is great... no rain and plus 26 C. I can't ask for anything more right now. I am loving life and certainly living for the moment!
